How to Change Gamma in Minecraft: Playing Minecraft for the first time is exciting, but the game settings are often insufficient for your gaming. For example, even though our game’s video settings indicate that it is bright, the gamma may not be high enough.
Minecraft can get fairly dark at night, especially inside deep tunnels, so it’s normal to feel unsafe in such circumstances.
However, there is a way to brighten the game even more!
It will allow you to explore the game more easily without having to make torches everywhere you go. Additionally, if you stream or shoot Minecraft videos, this will be a game changer for your content.
Let’s talk about how to change Gamma in Minecraft and increase your visibility. But first, let’s talk about what Gamma implies.
What is Gamma in Minecraft?
Gamma is simply brightness. Increasing your gamma is a typical tactic used by speedrunners to aid improve their vision when looking for shipwrecks in the water.
The concept has the potential to increase overall visibility.
Adjusting the game’s FOV is another piece of advice for individuals who want to improve their visibility in Minecraft.
How to Increase Gamma in Minecraft?
To begin, launch the Minecraft Launcher. Then, before you start the game, go to the Installations tab.
When you open the installations tab, it will display all the versions of the game you own as well as the one you’re currently playing.
Click the folder icon on the desired Minecraft version to open the Minecraft folder on your computer, which contains the program data: the “.minecraft” folder.
Still, there are two ways to access this folder, the second of which is to use the “Run” app.
You can find it by simultaneously pressing the Windows and “R” keys. Once it’s open, enter “%appdata%”. For example:
Then click OK. You are now in your computer’s program data folder. First, locate and open the “.minecraft” folder. Then, look for a text file called “options.”
Open the text document once you’ve located it. Next, locate the line that says gamma. If you can’t find it, press CTRL+F and put “gamma” into the text area.
Depending on the game edition, the default gamma is around 1.0 or 0.5. Increasing it to 15.0 will significantly improve your gaming.
I suggest putting it between 15.0 and 20.0.
The final step is to save the modifications you’ve made to the text file. So, in the top left corner, there is a file tab; press it and then save.
CTRL+S would be a faster way to save the file.
You have now increased your gamma from 1.0 to 20.0. If you still don’t like the brightness level, you can increase gamma in Minecraft to make it even brighter, or decrease it if it’s too bright.
After you’ve saved the file, go to your launcher and start the game. Of course, you can then close the files and folders you’ve opened.
